Reddit’s !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! is a veritable cornucopia of the many !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! of shop lyfe. You never know what’s gonna roll in. Here’s what caught my eye this week.

We’ve been dead af lately so we let him search for about a half hour before we all decided to use our free time to completely clean out the storm drain. Lube tech was still looking as we scooped years of neglect out of the drain, & we waited until we were all done to tell him the bolt was never missing.

08 Dodge 6.7, guy had a tuner installed and ran it on high performance all the time. Turbo completely failed, dpf plugged. The customer was never informed by the tuner it would plug with it being set to Max power at all times. This was not cheap.

Not new, someone had swapped engine with wrecker unit, one of the dowels was left in old engine I presume. Also unsure how long ago the swap was done, owner has not had the car long.

Between 20 flat rate technicians and 4 express techs, they unfortunately had to let the express techs go. And 5 of the flat rate techs took vacation that my company does not pay for, you have to use your own PTO/Sick days. Our dealership is operating at just barely 40% compared to normal.

It’s the valve body on a 15 forester. Our best guess is either someone put some foreign fluid in it or the trans cooler leaked coolant into the tranny. Either way shits fucked. Lady had us just bolt it back up and she “drove it” away.
We also put a used trans in 120k ago against our advice of going reman and she has not once changed the fluid. She was mad that we weren’t covering the bill on the trans we put in.

The pup started sliding off the berm and the driver panicked and hit the brakes and continued dumping.
The frame isn’t bent, just the tongue. And its 3x3x3/16" square tube.

This went through two techs over 2 days and multiple random parts before I got it and found this in 30 minutes. Such a satisfying feeling to “win” against the machine.

The really stupid part of this is my dealership does free oil changes for new cars purchased here. She sludged up her engine putting off a free oil change.

C ame a bit close to “Fast & Loud” catchphrase territory captioning that BBQ trailer.
Have you considered a backup plan if the pickings get too slim. Maybe a best of Oppo home mechanics open call to contribute?

Business is slowing down considerably for many shops these days , but there are still enough contributions pouring in from all over North America (and beyond) to provide plenty of fodder for these roundups. It’s not unusual to end up with a 30-entry composition that needs whittling down. It’s hard enough for me to pick 20ish faves, and I highly doubt the pickings are going to slim out enough for me to easily select a “top 10 ”.
But don’t let that stop anybody from contributing! Wrenching posts are some of my favorite Oppo content.

I enjoyed the captions if that makes any difference.
Fully expect the amount of people WFH will more than make up for the lack of mech’s posting work encounters. The idea of all Oppo edition sounded appealing enough I had to work it in somehow.

Heh, I’ve never actually watched F&L, so TBH I wasn’ t sure how to take that. At any rate, I always try to use a quote from the OP if there’ s one available that’ s directly relevant to their post. Otherwise , I’ll just try to throw in a pun or song lyric as a caption to help keep the format consistent. ( I don’t like leaving an empty space between the image/video and the inset link.)
JRitS actually had a fair share of WFH content this week! But I do gravitate towards sharing the ones that took place in a professional environment , in keeping with t he “shop lyfe” theme and all. That’s where the crazier customers’ cars tend to end up anyway .
An Oppo edition does sound interesting though... I ’d be up for it if everyone fil ed their wrenching posts under the “wrenching” tag where I could easily find all of them.

Ex-Cannonballer Richard Rawlings penned all too many cheesy catchphrases in the pop lexicon. “ Let ‘er rip, tater chip” is probably the one that comes closest to “Get ‘er done, (pork) chop chop.
